About Rays Respite Care
Founded on lived experience and professional expertise as a registered nurse caring for a special needs sibling, we understand firsthand the daily challenges families encounter. Through personalized services, compassionate guidance, and community outreach, Ray’s Respite Care ensures that families in East Texas and beyond have access to the resources and relief they need to maintain safe, healthy, and supportive home environments. We are a 501(c)(3).
Our Mission
At Ray’s Respite Care, we are dedicated to supporting families and caregivers of individuals with complex medical, physical, or developmental needs. Many caregivers face tremendous physical, emotional, and financial challenges while providing round-the-clock care for their loved ones. Our mission is to offer practical support, essential resources, and short-term respite services that help reduce caregiver burnout, improve family stability, and enhance the well-being of both caregivers and care recipients.
From the moment my sister was born, I knew I wanted to care for her and others with special needs. I earned my CNA license in high school and have worked with children and adults with disabilities and chronic health conditions. My nursing career has taken me from a Children’s Emergency Room to the Bronx during COVID-19, Fort Bragg, and currently to Christus Mother Frances in Tyler, TX, with certifications in ACLS, PALS, TNCC, BLS, NIHSS, and NRP.
My husband, a combat-disabled veteran, recently completed nursing school and shares my passion for giving back to the community. Together, we bring lived experience, professional expertise, and dedication to supporting families caring for medically complex loved ones through Ray’s Respite Care.
Purpose of the Organization
The purpose of Ray’s Respite Care is to provide practical support and relief to families caring for individuals with complex medical, physical, or developmental needs. The organization aims to reduce caregiver stress and burnout, promote family stability, and enhance the overall well-being of both caregivers and their loved ones. This is accomplished through short-term respite services, distribution of essential resources such as food and medical supplies, and planning for a dedicated respite home. Founded on lived experience and professional nursing expertise, Ray’s Respite Care fills a critical gap in East Texas by offering compassionate, personalized support to families who might otherwise have limited access to these essential services.
